Welcome campaign

Welcome message:

  • Make new gym members feel excited about going to the gym by sending them a welcome message. Offer them to contact your gym in case they have questions so they feel well-prepared for their first visit.
  • Follow-up:

  • if the new member still hasn’t visited your gym in a week, follow up with a message reminding them of the different machines they can use, the dance classes, yoga classes and so on so they feel motivated to go.

  • Keep members motivated

  • It’s not unusual that people are only motivated to go to the gym after just signing up but stop going throughout the year. Because of this, unfortunately fitness centers and gyms lose about 50% of their members each year. Therefore it’s important to have campaigns to motivate current gym members to keep going. Remind them of their progress such as the number of times they used to go and encourage them to visit your gym again.

  • if you have various types of workout available at your gym, encourage people to try them. Maybe they don’t enjoy weight lifting but would enjoy a zumba class, yoga class, swimming, HIIT class, pilates or perhaps they just need the help of a personal trainer!
  • Early renewal campaign:

  • In addition, to increase the number of gym membership renewal, you can also offer discounts for renewing early.

  • Refer-a-friend campaign

    • You can offer current members a free weekly or monthly trial for family and/or friends, so they can try out the gym equipment and to see what the atmosphere is like at your fitness center. If you offer the current gym member 1 month for free for each friend they recommend to your fitness center they will feel even more motivated.


    Important announcements

  • Since SMS has a faster (97%) and higher (98%) open rate than email (20%) it’s the best medium for emergency notifications. It’s important to let gym members know as soon as possible about important changes and announcements such as emergency closure of the gym, if a class they signed up for gets canceled due to illness of an instructor and so on.

  • Gym staff communication

  • Both the Xoxzo Voice API and SMS API can be used for communication among staff such as shift changes, and looking for replacements in case a staff member is ill. Usually a text message is enough but if there is no reply from the staff you could follow up with a voice message to increase the urgency of the matter. If a manager has an important, more personal announcement for several staff members he can also record it and easily send it to everyone involved or use text-to-voice for convenience.
